Remembrance Day Did you know more than 4,000 Indigenous Peoples in Canada left their homes and their families to help fight in the First World War. Indigenous veterans made great sacrifices to serve in Canada's war efforts, both overseas and at home. Many of them overcame major challenges to serve in the wars, such as: learning to speak English, adjusting to new cultures and being separated from family and friends. Over 500 Indigenous soldiers died during the First and Second World Wars so we pause for a moment of silence to honour the sacrifices of these veterans.
